Purchasing Custom Jewelry

Posted on 10th May 2012 in Accessories

There are many types of jewelry to choose from out there, but most people want to find something that is so unique only they will have it.  Many jewelry stores offer custom jewelry pieces that have already designed but can be personalized.  So what is the value in these you might wonder?

They might be pieces that you are able to change the stones, the colors of the stones, or even add an engraving or image to.  There are other aspects you can choose though.  If you go into a jewelry store and look at some pieces you might come up with the idea for a piece that requires a combination of pieces.  This requires thinking about what kind of piece you want first, a necklace, bracelet, ring, etc.  It also requires you thinking about what kind of metal you want, silver, gold, or platinum.  You might also be considering what kind of stone you want.  If you are able to afford precious gemstones or semi-precious might weigh into how you want the stones set or the colors of them.

To purchase any piece of custom jewelry it is important to know exactly what materials you want to use and what design you want.

Shopping Online Part 2

As discussed in another blog there are several things to know when deciding to by from an online jeweler.  As states in the other article, finding local Denver Jewelers where you can actually see, hold, and try on the piece of jewelry, might be a better choice if you are concerned about getting scammed on the Internet.

This is a serious concern of many people, but there are ways to better avoid the situation.  First, make sure whatever accredited site you are looking at buying from has a large selection.  By having a selection that is large allows you to have several options to choose from.  It also means that they are probably well versed in several different types of jewelry and stones.  Next, it is important to consider the reality of what you are buying.  Today people can buy just about anything on the Internet and never leave the house.  The best thing to do though is leave your house and take the time to look at some rings.  Even if you buy it from online at least seeing the colors, sizes, cuts, etc. in person will give you a better understanding of the ring and what you want.

Lastly, you want to make sure that you see what other people think of the site you are purchasing from as well as the ring.  If you have previously worked with or know any Denver Jewelers, you might ask them what they think of the site, the item, and if the item is reasonably priced.  This can be helpful in preventing you from choosing a piece of jewelry or a site that is not that great.
